Asus K40IN with Snow Leopard 10.6.2

This laptop can installed with Leopard and Tiger, but can’t work the Gforce G102M 512MB. :D

So must use Snow Leopard with Nvenabler.kext installed. Dualboot with Windows 7 smoothly

What needed?

  • DVD Installer Snow Leopard 10.6.2 by Hazard

How To?

  1. Set AHCI Mode for HDD on BIOS
  2. Insert DVD of Snow Leopard 10.6.2 by Hazard
  3. When Darwin Bootloader appear, Touch F8
  4. Boot DVD with: -v cpus=1
  5. Wait for Window Install
  6. Disk Utility -> Select Partition -> MacOS X extended journaled and Erase
  7. Close disk Utility and Next, Choose Partition then Next
  8. Customize Settings ( on left corner below ) :
    10.6.2 Combo Update
    ChameleonRC3 PC EFI 10.5
    Graphics -> NVEnabler
    Audio -> ALC662 ( replace by HDAEnabler )
    Laptop -> Apple ACPI Battery Manager
    Laptop -> Function Flip
    Laptop -> Voodoo Battery
    Laptop -> Voodoo Monitor
    Laptop -> Voodoo Power
    Laptop -> Voodoo PS2 Trackpad
    System -> Elliot Force Legacy RTC
    System -> AHCI SATA Fix
    System -> SMBIOS Resolver
    System -> UUID
    Additional Fonts
    X11 User
    Rosetta
  9. Wait over 20-30menit depend on your DVD Drive read
  10. Reboot.
  11. Set active Windows 7 Partition and Boot Windows 7
  12. Install EasyBCD 55 Beta for Windows 7 ( Neosmart.net )
  13. Add MacOS partition and save
  14. Dualboot done!

What Working :

  • Gforce G102M 512MB Quartz Extreme and Core Image for Video and Editing
  • DVD Drive
  • Touchpad ( scroll too :D )
  • Sound ( still need new patch driver for ALC662 Snow Leopard ) .. Link below
  • Ethernet/LAN
  • Card Reader
  • USB Port
  • Webcam ( Snapshot and Photoboth )

Not Working :

  • Wifi Chipset ( will swapp with Broadcom BCM43xx like MacBook )

* Update Customize : because use core2duo processor can use vanilla kernel, so never check kernel option. It’s can save update to lastest with remove sleepenabler.kext before.

* Update Driver Pack :  ASUS K40IN – 50IN Driver ( HDAEnabler, DSDT.aml, Extra Folder )

      settingan yg kek begini bisa d pake d laptop ade’nya K40IN gk (asus K40IE)

      klo ada boleh minta rincian settingn customize-nya donk
      :'( soalnya udh nginul brp kali nih, blm jg sampe ke desktopnya

      pastikan hal berikut udah dicek
      - kesehatan dari keping DVDnya
      - kesehatan baca DVD Drive Anda
      proses customize akan sama aja kok. selama Anda bisa masuk ke window instalasi

      smalem udh bisa nginul lagi..
      trs wktu customize-nya udh ngikutin petunjuk,
      tapi wktu restart stack di Boot0:done
      trs lgsg nyelonong ke winXP..

      sopwer bwt dualboot XP apa yh?? EasyBCD itu buat 7 ya om?

      oia saya spek vga saya 512 MB nVidia GeForce G310M sama kaya Aspire 4740G,
      jadi Graphics -> pake yg GraphicEnabler aja apa??

      permisi mas..saya uda coba dan berhasil install snow leo di asus saya :D terimakasih atas tutorialnya.

      tapi masi ada sedikit masalah nih.waktu shutdown lampu powernya masi nyala terus gak mau mati padahal layarnya uda mati,knapa ya mas ??

      coba cek si nullcpupowermanagement.kext, sekalian cek kext yang berkaitan dengan power semacam voodoopower, vooodoobaterai. jika diperlukan reinstall tanpa pakai kernel apapun. coba lagi

      coba hapus evoreboot.kext

      masih tetap sama mas.ndak mau mati.cm layarnya aja yang mati..

      eh kebalik dink, yang dihapus itu si OpenHaltRestart.kext, restore kembali si evoreboot.kext, SL hazard otomatis menginstall keduanya jadi bingung deh sistem untuk shutdown :D

      Thanx atas tutorialnya.
      Saya juga udah berhasil install SL di K40IN.
      Tapi ada masalah, SL gak bisa booting kalau tanpa AC Power dicolokkan. Punya bung Hendito begitu juga kah? Ada solusi?

      kata temen yang pakai seh begitu. karena bukan laptop saya, jadi belum diulik lebih lanjut. hehehe :p

      mas saya pake k40in,.saya coba pake Snow Leopard 10.6.1 by hazard tapi koq gak bisa masuk yah, mohon bantuannya dan langkah2nya…trmaksih:)

      kan udah ada di atas tuh langkah-langkahnya, tinggal dibaca, kalau enggak diprint dah. hahaha

      udah nyoba nginstall sesuai mas hendito bilang,,
      herannya kalo install pake

      -v cpus=1 arch=i386
      jalan tapi kernel panic, jd,pas slese install, lagi loading gbr apel lalu ada inf. harus restart gtu.

      -v cpus=1
      kalo pas abis pilih costumize kita check disk, istall berhenti di 30% dan itu PASTI, kesian optik saya udah di tunggu 3 JAM gak jalan

      akhirnya saya skip aja disk check/dvd check nya eh install lancer n pas booting ke mac gbr apel gtu..
      Malah restart…

      help me mas hendito…

      ga usah pakai checking DVD. kaga bakalan lolos.hahaha. emang kudu di Skip. pastikan mode HDD udah diset ke AHCI. pas customise ga usah dicontreng kernel apapun. core2duo = bisa pakai kernel default vanilla, jadi ga usah contreng kernel

      sama aja mas, di BIOS kan udah AHCI cuman bisanya ngeset AHCI0 & AHCI1 itu HDD ato DVD,
      saya rasa itu berarti default memang syda AHCI karena ga ada yg settingan AHCI/ngga.

      Udah di coba2 tanpa kernel tetep aja kernel panic… capek saya uda lebih dari 10x gagal trus… kesian optik laptop…

      ada solusi?

      AHCI itu buat HDD, biar HDD bisa maksimum kecepatan Read and Write-nya Lebih dari 133MB/s. kernel panicnya apa? coba difoto deh pas kernel panic dan upload dimana gitu deh fotonya kemudian kasih link lewat komen. masih juga 10kali gagal. selalu ada pengorbanan waktu. kalau udah merasa capek mending ndak usah dah. kok malah curhat. bisa jadi DVD installer anda bermasalah ( MD5cheksum beda ama developer). Solusi? Coba Install pakai Retail DVD dan gunakan Flashdisk. wakaka

      Gimana cara liat kernel panicnya mas?? pas chameleon bootloader itu kan ga bisa masukin -v utk verbose, yg ada pas gambar apel background putih ada lingkaran loading awal2, lalu stelah lama ada tulisan suruh restart gtu,

      kalo dvd keknya ga masalah soalnya pernah dipake install di PC n jalan kok, waktu itu kan mas hendito sendiri yg guide install ke PC juga, so DVD keknya ga masalah.

      keping DVD tidak kotor dan baret kan? jadi DVD Drive-nya baguslah. wakakaka. pas chameleon bootloader itu pilih partisi mac dan pencet spasi enter di paling bawah ( lihat dimonitor di pojok kiri bawah ) muncul baris bertuliskan ” boot : ” dan di situ anda ketik -v kemudian enter. jadi sebelum loading logo apel proses ini

      Thx buat Bro Hendito yg udah kasih pelajaran berharga soal hackintos…

      now, gw dah bisa install sendiri pake disk SL Asli(bukan distro)
      Dual boot pake chameleon (tapi partisi harus GUID nga bs MBR)
      Kext yg gw pake dari man_of_the_oak (semua custom kext di hapus dulu)
      sleep dan power jalan semua…

      sekali lg thx…

      manstab mas bro danan. ditunggu next project-nya ya. hahaha :D
